December 20 - Ayalon Institute, by Carly
This morning, we left Tel Aviv and headed for the South. On our way we stopped at the Ayalon Institute, where they manufactured bullets before Israel became a state. We watched a short movie about how it was built and operated and then went into the laundry room where the main entrance to the factory was. We learned about the "giraffes" or people that didn't know about the factory, and about the workers and their daily life. Then we went down 8 meters into the factory and got to see three of the original machines. As we were leaving, we all tried to exit in under three minutes, just like the workers had to. It was a great experience to learn about how the people helped in the war, and the events leading up to the creation of the state of Israel.
