December 18 - Invitation to Silence, by Rachel
This afternoon we went to the Children's museum in Holon, near Tel Aviv. We went to an exhibition called "Invitation to Silence." We put on special headphones that blocked out ambient noise and were told not to talk. We first went into a room where we learned how to use our hands to demonstrate our thoughts. Then we went into a room where we each put our heads in picture frames and learned how to express our feelings through facial expressions. Next, we went into a room where one person would go onto a little stage and either acted out on an emotion, reaction, or guess what the audience was telling them. We then entered a little "cafe" where we learned to say our names and order in sign language. Finally we entered another room where we had a "dialogue" with our guide, who happened to be deaf. This conversation was really fun because we could ask him anything we wanted to know. We learned a lot about the deaf community and lifestyle.
NOTE: Although we couldn't take pictures inside the museum, just want to share that only in Israel there are buses with Wifi!

I think it is amazing that you are able to experience, if only for an hour or so, how people communicate in different ways. Hope you are all making lots of friends and wonderful memories.
